Roaming with Emily

Welcome to my world of travel, food, adventure. A girl from Florida, USA making my way through a bucket list filled with new destinations, experiences, and cuisines.

About Me…

Hi! My name is Emily and I am from South Florida, U.S.A. I went to college in Tallahassee, Florida and moved to Washington D.C. in my early twenties to pursue a career in Risk Management with the U.S. Government. I have lived in D.C., Arlington, VA, and Philadelphia, PA. I also worked in the hospitality industry for ten years, most of that time as a bartender. I recently moved back to Florida to be near my family and because it has always felt like home.

My true passion in life is traveling and experiencing new places and cultures around the world. As we all know, life in general, but especially travel is not cheap, but I won’t let that stop me from experiencing all the world has to offer. I love to travel on a budget: looking for great flight deals (which may sometimes include very long travel days), staying in hostels when I can, taking overnight trains, walking around cities for hours just taking in the sights, trying street food and cheap eats, and finding free activities and places like museums, walking tours, etc. Traveling cheap means I can splurge occasionally on more expensive experiences, like a hiking excursion through the Dolomites or a ten course pizza tasting in Naples, Italy.

One of my favorite things to do is get outdoors and hike. A major bucket list item is to visit all the U.S. National Parks and eventually visit many around the globe (currently at 13). I love camping and it’s a goal of mine to camp more throughout the United States, whether it is a big trip or just a weekend close to home. Some of my favorite memories are pitching a tent with friends, setting up a hammock, and relaxing around a campfire; as well as days spent hiking through the desert climate of Utah or the rainy forests of Washington, followed by grabbing a beer at a brewery after a long day.

To me, my memories and experiences traveling with my family and friends are the most valuable things I have. When I look back on my life I want to know I experienced all I could and got out of my comfort zone. In my opinion, rough travel days and budget experiences have made for my best stories and produced many laughs. I want to share that with you and maybe inspire an adventure of your own!
